Striker Lee pays tribute to sound engineer and dubwise mixmeister Phillip Smart, who, as Prince Phillip worked at King Tubby's Studio at Drumilly Avenue, Kingston, Jamaica during the mid-seventies mixing some of the wickedest dubs known to man, credited on some, not on most. It's notoriously difficult to determine exactly who mixed what at Tubby's. There was the man himself, Phillip Smart, Pat Kelly, Prince Jammy's and later Scientist all with their hands on the knobs. It's debatable whether Smart had much to do with the tracks collected here, certainly when the storming dub to Johnny Clarke's Play Fool Fe Get Wise was initially issued on 12" in 1980 or thereabouts the very same dub was entitle Jammys A No Fool!
