Remarks Expat Jamaicans relocated to Brooklyn in the seventies providing backing for visiting reggae singers until they struck out on their own as Monyaka, Swahili for "good luck" according to Wikipedia. They had a crossover hit in 1982 both in the US and the UK with Go Deh Yaka, but some of their recordings were rootsy and have since become collectors pieces. The tracks here were recorded in 1983 at Channel One and Joe Gibbs studios in Jamaica. Laid back roots and mostly extended into dubs.
