Jamaican roots reggae band F.Y.A.H. has made its boldest statement yet with its debut album, Free Your Authentic Heart. The 13-track project arrived on February 21 via Dub Rockers, an imprint of VP Records.

The band first took shape in 2020 under the leadership of Delroy “Pele” Hamilton, bassist and co-founder of the Grammy-nominated group Raging Fyah. During the isolation of the pandemic, Pele’s desire to pursue a new artistic project deepened, so he joined forces with guitarist Nicolas Groskopf and vocalist Elton Earlington to bring that vision to life. Together, they formed the trio at the heart of the band, pushing the boundaries of reggae by blending global influences with the foundational sounds they grew up with and love.

The journey so far has been marked by incredible highs, including collaborations with giants of the genre like Steel Pulse (Freedom Fighter), Josey Wales (One Day Soon), and Alborosie (I Believe), as well as memorable appearances on platforms like NYC’s SummerStage and Sugar Shack Sessions. However, the path to this point has not been without its challenges.
