Remarks	Pioneers – Down At The Club – Boss – A Side A tune produced by The Pioneers just when they were trying to shake off the Pop/Reggae tag. In the context of what was going on in 1974 – when it was first released on Attack in the UK. You could see it being easily overlooked. Not because it was a bad tune, far from it. It's a great tune – produced in fine style with great vocals. But at the time, Bunny Lee was mashing up the reggae charts with his flying cymbals. And if it wasn’t Bunny, it was Niney – and his early raggamufffin style – with Dennis Brown on vocals. It sounds like the heavy rhythm that the label was moving into – just before Leslie Kong died. The power of this rhythm. Nuclear!!! It seems this was released on Bullet in 1970. This must have done very well for Pama Records back then. The Viceroys should have an hit with this – but they were a very unlucky group. Years and years later when they recorded for Sly and Robbie – and released ‘Heart Made Of Stone’ I thought that would do it for them. Sadly not. Viceroys - Power Control
